Rubidium is a Forge-focused rendering optimization mod. The safest setup approach is to match every component to the same Minecraft version and make changes in a controlled order.

Download a Rubidium release for the same game version.
Open the instance mods folder and place the Rubidium .jar inside it.

Compatibility checks

Before launching, verify Minecraft, Forge or NeoForge where applicable, Rubidium and any shader or rendering add-ons. The Rubidium project explicitly states that OptiFine is not compatible.
